The Aspen trees are about halfway through their change of color to golden yellow, signaling the wave of the coming winter. Some aspens have decided that the extreme drought is just too much and do not have the energy to display their beauty.
They are just changing to black.
The late-summer rain and the slight reduction in tourism pressure have lifted the endless fire ban. So nice to see the rain!
Usually, the late-summer rain signals a dry winter in my book. Having been in Breckenridge since 1974, the prediction of this Super El Niño is really just a Vail Resorts marketing scam. But, in all actuality, a light winter is much better for the Breckenridge tourist/skier. I-70 won’t close as much, and the ski area might be able to do a better job of slope maintenance.
Seeing as Vail Resorts is a real estate company and not a ski industry company, they need this kind of help from Mother Nature. So I predict a very well-groomed mountain that caters to the type of skier who visits the Breckenridge Ski Area.
High Country Lodge is your option to escape the hustle and craziness of the big city (Breckenridge). Come stay up on the mountain and enjoy what Breckenridge used to be. Peace and quiet, no neighbors, and a big yard for the kiddos.
Happy winter!!!
