Summer Activities

Peak 8 Base Camp
Located at the top of the FREE BreckConnect Gondola, adventure awaits at our alpine amusement park with activities for the young and young-at-heart. A few of the attractions you’ll find are the bungee trampoline, the Mineshaft Maze, Ripperoo’s bounce house, mini golf, scenic chair lift, gemstone panning, rock wall, Gold Runner Coaster, Alpine SuperSlide and more! Contact Breckenridge Groups (please include Breckenridge in the subject line) for group pricing.

Golf
Elevate your game on one of Breckenridge’s three Jack Nicklaus Signature nine-hole courses (the Bear, the Beaver and the Elk). Breckenridge Golf Club offers group outing rates for 12 or more.

Biking
Rentals for cruiser bikes, road bikes, fat bikes and mountain bikes abound in our town. Tackle Peak 8’s mountain bike park, tour the town or ride the paved recreation path connecting Breckenridge to Frisco (keep in mind that it’s downhill to Frisco but uphill back to Breckenridge). Check out these great recommendations on paved routes for road biking in Breckenridge.

Hiking
Breckenridge offers hiking opportunities for all ages and abilities. Check out this guide to Breck’s best hikes.

Fly Fishing
Knowing where to go and what the fish will be biting on can be overwhelming. We recommend consulting one of the top local shops like Mountain Angler or Breckenridge Outfitters for help coordinating a guided trip for your group.

Whitewater Rafting
There are a number of whitewater outfitters in the area and most offer these popular trips from Breckenridge.

Blue River (closest)
While this trip is the closest whitewater rafting to Breckenridge, it’s season is short and dependent on water
flow releases from Dillon Reservoir.

Browns Canyon (most popular)
A beautiful 1 hour drive from Breckenridge, Browns Canyon is great for all ages and abilities. Offering more time on the river than the Blue River trip, this trip offers breathtaking mountain and canyon scenery on the Arkansas River.

Royal Gorge (most scenic)
A little further of a drive, the Royal Gorge is a bucket list rafting adventure. Paddle through legendary rapids
beneath the country’s highest suspension bridge. Suitable for ages 13+.

Horseback Riding
Whether you’re looking for a mellow trail ride close by or open ranch riding in picturesque Park County we’ve got something for everyone.

Breckenridge Stables (closest, trail rides)
A great trip for younger children in the group; explore the beautiful scenery just above Breckenridge Ski Resort
as you trail ride between Peaks 9 and 10.

American Safari Ranch (open ranch riding)
Located 29 miles south of Breckenridge, this authentic western ranch can accommodate groups of all sizes.

Platte Ranch (open ranch riding)
Ride on this 8,000+ acre ranch traveling over the South Platte River and experience panoramic views of six
mountain ranges.

Winter Activities

Sledding
Grab your snow tube, saucer or sled and head to one of Breck’s two sledding hills. Carter Park is located four blocks east of Main Street (limited parking) and Runway Sledding Hill (plenty of parking) is located near the free parking lot on Airport Road. Both locations are free, BYOS (bring your own sled) and are open during daylight hours.

Skiing & Snowboarding
Five peaks, 187 trails spread across 2,908 acres and the highest lift-served terrain in North America is what makes Breck a most impressive mountain for winter snowsports enthusiasts. Traveling with 20 or more? Contact Breckenridge Groups  (please include Breckenridge in the subject line) for group pricing.

Snowmobiling
With miles of pristinely groomed trails and powder-filled meadows to be explored, your snowmobile adventure offers the ideal backcountry escape. Click here to learn more about custom group tours.

Sleigh Rides
Discover the magic of the Breckenridge as your sleigh glides through open views of the mountains. Visit Breckenridge Stables Dinner Sleigh Rides or Golden Horseshoe Sleigh Rides for more information.

Cross Country Skiing/Snowshoeing
Experience the joy of gliding across snow through quiet forests. Whether it’s cross country skiing or snowshoeing, you can spend as little as an hour out on the trails or all day by choosing the distance and terrain you’d like to explore. Both the Breckenridge Nordic Center on Peak 8 and the Gold Run Nordic Center at the Breckenridge Golf Course offer cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

Patrick and Petra were outstanding hosts of their beautiful lodge. We had a large group of college friends on a 30 year reunion. Patrick and Petra gave us outstanding service coupled with privacy. The Prime Rib dinner was delicious. They even provided group transport to and from Peak 7 lifts. Outstanding! Can’t wait to visit again.

I brought our family of 27 for a most fabulous week ever. Annual family vacations for 10 years now presents challenges to do better then the year before. Everyone agrees that High Country Lodge is now in "First Place" as the best vacation ever. Patrick and Petra are fabulous hosts, and the Lodge is perfect for large family gatherings. We will definitely return, and highly recommend to anyone. You will not be disappointed.

Patrick and Petra bent over backwards to see that our family of 23 had the time of your lives. Their lodge was spacious and the views were beautiful. They served in whatever capacity we asked them to both before and during our stay. We feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to stay at High Country Lodge!

Our family’s stay at High Country Lodge was perfect in every way. Patrick and Petra were so hospitable and personable. They prepared excellent food for our family of 23. Before arrival, Patrick was very easy to communicate with and a helpful trip planner. We also used him for transportation to and from the ski slopes daily. Patrick and Petra were extremely patient with our excited and boisterous family. The lodge itself is so homey and a comfortable place to spend the evening after a long day of skiing. The numerous bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect for our family to spread out in. If there was anything we needed during our stay, Patrick and Petra were on in. I believe this lodge was the perfect place for our family to vacation and if we are ever in Breckenridge again we will absolutely stay here!

Recently, we hosted a very meaningful wedding at High Country Lodge. In attendance were multi-generations including seven grandparents over 80 years old. We were grateful for Patrick's suggestion to rent oxygen machines. The Lodge, Patrick and his family met and exceeded our expectations. He allowed us to tour the lodge several weeks ahead, communicated well and assisted us with whatever we needed. Patrick accommodated our meal situation by preparing our appetizers and dinner for the wedding reception to perfection! Additionally, having a spacious kitchen with two refrigerators and a large serving buffet, allowed us to accommodate a bit of home cooking by the guests along with take-out options from the area. HCL is extremely spacious with comfortable rooms, (including both private and bunk rooms) many bathrooms and numerous seating areas for quiet reading of conversation. The tables are large for group meals, conversation, and games. From the lodge and deck we saw fox and moose visit the yard. The snow capped continental divide with sun rising and setting and storms rolling in and over the mountains was a highlight for all. On the cool days we enjoyed the fireplace and hot tub. The basement rec room was the perfect place for the bachelor/bachelorette gathering. Additionally, the deck provided an ideal setting for the wedding. The pine arch set with florals and greenery was an added bonus. Our guests continue to remember and be extremely grateful for the quiet yet conversation filled weekend we had celebrating the wedding of our bride & groom. What a joy to visit with and learn from the multi-generations in attendance from around our great nation following the trials of 2020.We left our time at HCL with full hearts and gratitude for Patrick and his family!!
